Donald & Debra are hopeful adoptive parents from Washington waiting to adopt a baby.

If you are pregnant and considering placing your child for adoption, please read the following Dear Birthmother Letter.

Greetings! We are Don and Debbie. We are excited and honored that you are considering us. The circumstances you are walking through must be overwhelming, but I hope you are discovering how good God is and how able He is to strengthen and comfort you.

For my husband and I, we love this time of our lives of parenting young children. We have been married 16 years and are blessed to be best friends. After having tried for 6 years to conceive, we endured three miscarriages and years of quiet rooms and unfulfilled dreams. We prayed about adoption and God brought our son Shane to us in August 2005 and our daughter, Kyra, in April 2007. Both children are from South Korea and have been a gift that we very much desired. Having Shane and Kyra in our life has been the most wonderful, enjoyable experience of our lives. We cherish every moment and cannot wait to give even more of our love to another child.

Adoption has been the answer to our prayers for a family. We hope to add to our family soon. We know that the decision to place a child for adoption is a very difficult one. We hope that this letter will give you insight into our love and life.
Don and Debbie Don

I am 6’ 2” tall, with a medium build, brownish blond hair and hazel eyes. The things that I like to do most are spending time with my family. I enjoy hiking, biking, playing soccer and long walks with the family. I also enjoy listening to music, watching movies, reading and building or drawing things.

My family is the most important thing in my life. I love to come home and have my wife and children waiting for me. My heart melts when they say, “I love you, Dad“. I love to get down and play with them. I look forward to each and every stage of their lives. It has been the best thing that ever happened to me.

We spend some of our time with close friends from church. We regularly visit family, which live out of state. We are developing our own family traditions in hopes of growing a close family of our own. I have a younger sister and she has a daughter. My parents and sister are extremely happy for us in the adoption of our son and daughter. My parents enjoy being grandparents and desire to be grandparents again.

I am a law enforcement officer at a local office. I get super medical benefits and 30 vacation days a year. We regularly go on outings and take one two-week vacation a year.

Debbie

I am 5’ 11” tall with a medium build, brown hair and hazel eyes. I enjoy crafts and cross-stitching in my spare time. I enjoy exploring new recipes, usually the results are great. I love to read and reading to Shane and Kyra is a favorite pastime. Daily devotionals are an important part of our lives. Our relationship with God has seen us through many good times and several challenging times.

Shane and Kyra are the absolute joys of my life. I cannot express in words how much I love them. It is like they have always been in our lives; we can’t imagine it without them now. Becoming a mom is the most amazing thing that has ever happened to me.

I am a full-time stay at home mom and take great pride in that fact. I keep busy with Shane and Kyra and the house. We go for walks and spend lots of time playing. Right now, I am teaching Shane (in his preschool workbook) how to write his letters and numbers at home. Kyra has a “workbook” and loves working on tracing, coloring and other crafts. I have taken many photos and so has Don. We use these photos and other items for their baby books.

My mom helped us tremendously in the adoption of Shane and Kyra. She is very happy for us and looks forward to having another grandchild. I have a brother. He is married with three boys. My father has been happy for us, and his wife made Shane and Kyra blankets upon their arrivals.

We have two female Himalayan cats. They had been our “kids” before Shane and Kyra. They have been with us for 15 years. They are super sweet and mostly like to nap or to be petted. Shane and Kyra are learning how to be gentle with the cats.
Shane and Kyra Shane

Hello, my name is Shane Michael Tae. I am 5 years old. I joined my family when I was almost 5 months old. I have brown eyes and brown hair. My mommy stays home with me and takes care of me. I love it when Daddy comes home from work. We have so much fun! He helps me build things with my blocks. I love going to my Sunday School class when our family goes to church. Mommy, Kyra and I go for stroller rides and visit different playgrounds . Mommy also takes us to toddler reading time and craft times at the library. I hope to have another sibling soon-I love being a big brother. I am a good helper to mommy and daddy. I like to play with all my friends. I have several friends and some are adopted, just like me.

Kyra

Hello, my name is Kyra Vanessa So. I am 3 years old. I joined my family when I was 5 months old. I have brown eyes and brown hair just like big brother, I love going to Sunday School and shopping with mommy. At home I like pushing my dolls in their stroller or playing at my pretend kitchen. I really love it when mommy and daddy read to me – I love books. I look forward to having another sibling really soon-I want to be a big sister. Shane and I play together and have lots of fun. We play with train sets and draw mommy and daddy pictures with chalk on the driveway.

All of Us Our family is like a patchwork quilt. Each person is unique in his or her own way, but together, we make a beautiful and warm family. We have a 4-bedroom house outside of town, in a neighborhood of other homes. Our house is on a third of an acre so there is plenty of room for children to play. We have a large patio, perfect for tricycles and such. We are close to very good schools and walking trails and parks are within a short drive.

Our faith is also a big part of our lives: through the infertility and miscarriages, and now, it has helped us through the adoption process. We believe in God and the power of prayer. Shane and Kyra are answers to many prayers. We continue to thank God for them daily. If chosen to adopt your child, he/she will also be an answer to much prayer.

We hope and pray that you would consider allowing us to embrace your little one with all the love and warmth that we have to offer. We offer you respect, compassion, gratitude and prayer. We can offer your child a loving and happy home. We pray God gives you peace in your decision. May God bless you and keep you in all your ways.

With Love and Prayers,

Don, Debbie, Shane, and Kyra
