Larry & Dawn are hopeful adoptive parents from Missouri waiting to adopt a baby.

If you are pregnant and considering placing your child for adoption, please read the following Dear Birthmother Letter.

Congratulations!
Adoption in Progress.

Hello! We are Larry and Dawn, and we want to thank you for taking time to get to know us a little bit. We understand that you have a difficult decision to make, and we realize that making an adoption plan takes a great deal of courage and love. We are so grateful that you are taking the time to learn more about us and what we hope to offer your baby. We hope that by reading more about us, you will gain a better understanding about the kind of people we are.

We are a happy couple who share strong family values and have always known that we’ve wanted to have a family of our own. Sometimes, though, life can throw you something unexpected, and our struggle with infertility was no exception. We believe that things happen for a reason, and some of our friends have even told us that we were just meant to adopt because we have great love and understanding for others.

We are excited that adoption provides the possibility for us to create our family. We can't express in words how excited we are to become parents. We have a lot of love to give and look forward to sharing life's moments with a child. We envision a life as a family filled with exploration, learning, play, laughter, and unconditional love and support. Parenting to us means helping a child grow into a healthy, happy, confident adult who can discover his or her passions and talents and pursue them. We will teach our child to love themselves and to know that they are important, valued, and cherished by others.

About Us We initially met about 8 years ago when a mutual friend was celebrating his new job. At that time, we briefly talked to one another but then went our separate ways. A couple of years later, that same friend decided that it was time to introduce us again. We quickly formed a friendship that turned into a romance. We found that our personalities balanced each other’s, and we loved spending as much time together as we could. After two years of dating, we got married in a low-key ceremony on the beach in Mexico. For us, it was the perfect day.

Although we have different personalities, we are truly the best of friends. Larry is laid back and always has a positive outlook on life. Dawn is more independent, and is known for her genuine personality. Her friends and family count on her to be honest and open with them. Despite our personality differences, we are always able to work together as a team, whether we are rehabbing our home, planning a vacation, or talking about something that is bothering us. We truly value each other’s opinions and trust each other 100%.

About Larry by Dawn

When I first met Larry, I was initially attracted to his eyes and his smile. It didn’t take me long to see that he has a personality that naturally draws people to him. Larry is always at the center of what is going on, whether we are with friends or strangers. We’ve been lucky enough to take several vacations together, and I am always amazed at the number of people that he befriends each trip! Larry is a warm, caring person who always sees life positively. That’s probably what I admire about him most. I could be having the worst day ever, and he’s always right there to cheer me up. Larry makes me see the fun and the good in life, and I know that he’ll do the same for our children. He is a very confident person. I’ve never heard him say that he can’t do something. It seems like no matter what it is he tries to do, he’s able to conquer it with success. Larry is also a really great friend that would do anything to help others. He genuinely cares about other people and wants to make them happy. Larry’s eyes light up when we see a child. Larry makes it a point to make funny faces and smile at them, and really gets a kick out of seeing them laugh at him. I can just tell that he is going to make the best dad ever.

About Dawn by Larry

Dawn is the best person I know. She’s not only my wife, but also my best friend. I was immediately attracted to Dawn to first time we met. As I got to know her better, I realized that she was not only a beautiful person on the outside, but she is even more beautiful on the inside. She is always a person everyone goes to for her opinions or her advice. She is very understanding and a great listener, not to mention very intelligent and driven. I love her great sense of humor and she can always make me laugh. Dawn keeps things in order in our lives. Our friends often tease me when they ask me about making plans because I always tell them I have to check my rolodex (which is Dawn). Dawn is an incredibly giving person whether it be giving her time to help her sister paint her home, or helping a friend out by letting them “shop” in her closet. She is always there when I need her, when a relative needs her, or when a friend needs her.

Our house is always the first place for babysitting our nephews, and they always love to come see Aunt Dawn. I know that she will be a great mother because of the way treats others, and by the responses we always get from not only our nieces and nephews but our friends’ children as well. They all ask “Can we go see Aunt Dawn?” I can honestly say that I would not know what I would do without her, and I feel that becoming a mother will only make her an even better person than she already is.

Things We Like to Do

We really enjoy spending time together, no matter what we are doing. There’s almost never a time when one of us is without the other. We can always find the humor and fun in things. We enjoy watching movies so much that some of our friends call us their personal movie critics. We love hosting game nights at our house, where we have friends, family, and kids over to play anything from Cranium games to trivia to the Wii. During the spring and summer, we play on a softball team with a group of friends. The team has been together for about 10 years, and we’ve all become like family. We also enjoy challenging each other. Sometimes we see who can beat the other person at a game of Jeopardy, and other times we’ll challenge each other to a cook-off with a new recipe.

Our Families Our families are very important to us. We each have close bonds with our families, and are thankful that most of them live close by. Our nieces and nephews see us as the favorite aunt and uncle. We think it’s not just because we are fun -- it’s because we always have time for them, and we show them lots of love.

Dawn is the middle of 5 children. She has a strong bond with each of her siblings and considers them close friends, too. She has 5 nephews and a niece, and they are all really excited to have a new cousin (or cousins) to grow up with. We are thrilled that we just became godparents to Dawn’s newest niece, Emily. We spend a lot of time with Dawn’s nephews. We play games, teach them new hobbies, and joke with them. We’re not supposed to tell, but Dawn’s 10 year-old nephew has taken a liking to making jewelry with her when he comes over. When the kids are spending a night or a weekend with us, we always have a great time laughing at the silly things they say or do.

Larry is the middle of 3 children, and he has 4 nieces and a nephew. Larry’s dad always tells us that family is everything, and that kids and grandkids are the greatest gift anyone can ever have. Larry’s parents are very excited to welcome another grandchild. His mom checks in with us every week to find out if we have any updates. Larry’s mom and dad’s house is a favorite place for their grandkids. Mama and Papa always have fun games, favorite snacks, and lots of time, attention and love to give. Larry’s family gets together often, whether it’s for a birthday, holiday, or just to have dinner.

Another part of our family is our 2 great dogs – Walker and Johnnie. We’ve always made the effort to have our dogs around children so that they would feel comfortable, and are confident that they will really enjoy having a new family member to love. Walker, a border collie mix, is at his happiest when there are kids around. It’s amazing to watch how he just lays there while a bunch of kids climb all over him. He gets really excited when new people are around, and loves playing tag with our nieces, nephews and friends’ children. Johnnie, our beagle mix, is the lover of the two dogs. He always wants to be as close as he can to people, and has an uncanny sense of knowing when someone needs a little extra attention or love. Everyone who meets Johnnie wants to take him home with them because he’s just so sweet.
Our Home When we began looking for a home, we had a family in mind. We live in a large 3 bedroom ranch style house that’s on a quiet street. We will be very involved in our child’s education, both inside and outside the classroom. We are fortunate to not only live in a great school district, but also live very close to the school.

Our home is often a gathering place for family and friends, and we always like to make sure that everyone is comfortable. We host most holidays at our home, and we especially enjoy having the entire family over for Christmas Eve. When the weather is nice, we love having friends and family over for barbecues. Larry is famous for his pork steaks and ribs!

We are in a subdivision that has a lot of kids, and there are plenty of child-friendly activities close by. We live in a city that has many parks, and we can’t wait to take our children to the playground, the swimming pool or to our softball games. We are less than 30 minutes away from many great family activities, including the St. Louis Zoo, the Magic House, the Pumpkin Patch and the Science Center. We are also not far from Busch Stadium, where we can cheer on the Cardinals, and the Scottrade Center, where we can root for the Blues. We look forward to taking our children to these places and more.

We want to sincerely thank you for taking the time to learn more about us, and we look forward to getting to know each other better. Please feel free to contact us any time. Send us a message, or call us day or night at 314-266-9192.

Thank you,
Dawn and Larry
