Andy & Mary are hopeful adoptive parents from Washington waiting to adopt a baby.
If you are pregnant and considering placing your child for adoption, please read the following Dear Birthmother Letter.

To Someone Special
If you are considering adoption, thank you for having the courage and love to consider making an adoption plan for your child. We cannot imagine what you are going through and the decisions you are trying to make. But we do admire you for taking the time to select a family that will give your baby all that you wish for him/her.
Thank you also for taking the time to get to know us a little better and for considering us as the possible family for your child. We hope you’ll find us easy to talk to about your ideas on an adoption plan for your child. If you should decide to choose us to parent your child, we would be so honored. We hope that we can share ideas on an open adoption, though we would respect your choice for a closed adoption if that's what you prefer.
We hope to be those parents that will be driving (and coaching?) sports games, running to dance classes, swim lessons, music lessons, spelling bees, or whatever interests them. We don't think we need to force anything on him/her. We just want to give them options to try new things and support them where they need us. We want them to experience camping at the lake, running through sprinklers, sledding down a snowy hill. We also hope we can show your child the world and would love to see it through their eyes along the way.
About Us
We're a happy and fun couple from Washington who look forward to becoming parents for the first time. What can we say about us? We LOVE each other. We have FUN. We LAUGH a lot (sometimes at ourselves). We have an ACTIVE lifestyle. Okay, maybe we’re not zip lining every weekend (we only did that once so far), but we keep busy and we love to travel! More than anything, we’re in a place in our lives where we want to share our lives with a child. We love kids and always hoped to be parents. We were unable to conceive on our own and when fertility treatments failed, we were glad that we had considered adoption as a way to grow our family. It is more important to us to be parents than to be biological parents.
We’ve been together for over nine years and married for five. Our marriage is happy, loving and strong. We’re best friends. Throughout good times and not-so-good times, we have been there for each other and are committed to being there for each other for the rest of our lives. We try to keep our sense of humor and even poke a little fun at each other when we can. It helps keep perspective on what’s important in life.
Together we share similar interests ranging from simply spending time with family and friends to traveling around the world. We both love music and like to attend concerts -- mostly rock, but we listen to just about everything. We enjoy going to all types of sporting events (go Seahawks!). That also includes games our nieces and nephews play in -- basketball, soccer baseball and more! We enjoy camping and watersports with friends every summer. We especially enjoy those lazy Sundays laying on the couch and watching movies.
Andy works as a marketing analyst for a wireless company. This is a second career for Andy as he retired from the Air Force in 2009. Mary works as a project manager for a consulting company out of Seattle. The best part of her job is the flexibility. She can take time off, work part time, or work from home.
Some of our best times have been shared with our nieces and nephews. We love spending time with them where we have gone camping, swimming, go-karting, trampoline jumping, the movies, waterslides, Disneyland and more! We make time to attend their school activities and sporting events. Sleepovers include making forts out of blankets in the living room, watching movies and eating ice cream. When we become parents, we hope to build those same memories with our child.
Our Home
We live about 20 miles SE of Seattle. We own a 4-bedroom home on a cul-de-sac and neighborhood with lots of younger kids. We are in walking distance of many parks. We have a fenced backyard just waiting for a young child to play in making make forts, riding bikes/trikes, playing tag and more. The school district is considered one of the best in the State. We belong to the local YMCA and look forward to participating in the many kids and family programs they offer.
Meet Mary
I grew up in a small town in western Washington. I work as a consultant doing mostly project management with a company in Seattle. I love my job. Not only is the company super flexible with schedules, but the work is a perfect fit for me because I love to plan and be organized.
I like to travel, attend concerts and movies, listen to music, and spend time with friends and family. I like to take pictures of everything. Some might laugh at me, but I like having pictures of friends, family, and places we go. It’s like taking a snapshot in time. I love the ability to look back for the memories.
I also like to cook. I make great desserts that Andy likes to eat up immediately. Okay, I’ll admit, I gobble them up too. I love trying new recipes and do so whenever I can. I'm determined to try making homemade pasta this winter! Christmas is my favorite holiday and we like to celebrate big! A tree, decos, holiday parties and more. Although, I don’t need a reason to have a party. I’m game for that year round!
My family all live in Washington State. My four nieces and one nephew range in age from age 6-23. I’ve been a big part of each of their lives since they were born. They are all so cool and fun to hang out with. I also have a group of girlfriends that I’ve been close with since grade school. We love to spend time with them and their families and get together with them several times a year. We’re already planning our annual summer camping trip.
Mary According to Andy
My wife Mary is an incredible person. She is very personable and social, loving, silly, well-organized and will be a fantastic mom. She’s a great cook and even better chocolate chip cookie maker. She’s able to relate to new people quickly and is very approachable. She was my “better half” during the latter part of my military career and is now an even greater support system as I have begun my 2nd career. She supports me in every decision I face. Throughout our years together, our relationship has grown greatly. I like that I can be both silly and serious with Mary. She is the best thing that’s happened in my life so far.
Meet Andy
I grew up in upstate New York. I went to college for a few years before enlisting in the Air Force. I got to serve in various locations in the U.S. and Australia. While in the Air Force, I earned my bachelor’s degree – I guess I’m a computer guy. I retired in 2009 and am now working as a marketing analyst/contractor for a wireless company.
On a more personal level, I love photography. I’m no pro, but I’m figuring it out as I go. My favorite foods are spaghetti with meatballs and ice cream (not together!) I’m a huge music fan. While I favor rock, I’m finding I also like jazz and blues. I enjoy traveling, going to festivals, concerts and outdoor sporting events.
My parents both grew up in Germany and met and married in the United States. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 2010. They live in upstate New York. My mom loves to garden and my dad’s first love is fishing and is still working as a machinist at age 75. They both love kids and are wonderful grandparents.
My younger brother and his wife have been married for about 20 years. They have two children ages 12 and 15. They are great kids and sports fanatics. Mary and I go back east to visit at least once or twice a year where the whole family gets together for dinners, holidays, and mini vacations together.
Andy according to Mary
Andy is a kind man with a kind heart. He’s smart, funny, honest, silly, driven and curious. He loves to learn new things and I think that’s one of the many things that draws us together. Andy is like a kid himself. I can't tell you how many times he's captured a frog from the yard and brought it in the house to show me! He loves children and is great with them. Its clear they love him too by the way nieces and nephews on both sides of our families interact with him. He talks to them, plays with them, protects them, and loves to watch them experience life. He wants to be a part of their lives growing up. Andy’s my true love, my best friend and I can’t wait to build a family with him.
In conclusion
As prospective adoptive parents, we have done a lot of work to prepare for parenthood. We have talked with adoption professionals and have connected with other adoptive families. We have taken classes and read books on parenting. More than anything, our hearts and minds are ready to be parents. A child would be a true blessing in our lives.
We won't tell you we're not nervous. We are! But we couldn't be more excited or ready to be parents and share our lives with a child where there’s love, fun, laughter, lots of activity and endless hugs and kisses.
We hope to hear from you soon!
From our heart,
Andy & Mary
