Matthew & Janae are hopeful adoptive parents from Alaska waiting to adopt a baby.

If you are pregnant and considering placing your child for adoption, please read the following Dear Birthmother Letter.

Family Life and Alaska Hi!
Thank you for taking the time out of your busy life to consider placing your child in our family. The decision to place your child into an unknown family must be extremely difficult. As much as we would like to relate to you in this matter, we simply cannot. What we can do is help you to get to know us a little bit better so that you can make the best decision for you and your child.

Our Family Life
We have been married for almost 7 years, although I have been "chasing" Matt since I was 12! After almost 13 years of "chasing", Matt was finally hooked! We live near all of my extended family where my parents own three fishing lodges and a car rental business. My two older brothers, older sister, and their spouses live within 10 minutes of us. Matt also has family that lives close! In all, we have 14 nieces and nephews that live just minutes away. We often get together for Sunday dinners at Grandma and Grandpa's house. All the kids love to get together and play in "Grandpa's Gym".

Alaska
We live in a small, diverse community in Southeast Alaska where we have the opportunity to experience many things not experienced in other parts of the country. Growing up here we were able to travel often for vacation and/or school sports. We love living right on the water which allows us to do many things such as boating and fishing. Though we live in Alaska, we do not get a lot of snow. In Ketchikan, it RAINS and RAINS and RAINS! We love the state of Alaska and plan to live here for the long haul.

Education and Occupation I went to Utah State University in Logan, UT and received my bachelors degree in Elementary Education. I received my masters degree in Reading and Literacy from Walden University in 2012. I will begin my ninth year of teaching at a local elementary school in September.

Matt went to the Utah College of Massage Therapy in Salt Lake City, UT where he specialized in sports massage. He no longer does massage therapy. Instead Matt runs and manages our family car rental business.
Our Experience with Adoption Our son Blake was born in January 2013. We were very lucky to be there for his birth. It was very quick, Janae was able to be in the room as he was born while Matt was still parking the car!! It was the fastest delivery! We have a great relationship with Blake's birth mother. We keep in contact through text messages and the occasional FaceTime. We were lucky enough to see Blake's birth mom in January 2014 when we traveled to Anchorage for work. We also have many close friends and family who have adopted children in their families. Matt's brother and wife have adopted two children and they live just a few minutes away. Both Matt and my families are very supportive of adoption and are excited to meet the next addition to the family.
About Us Matthew is the best! He is so loving, kind, and generous. He has a great sense of humor and when you get him going he is quite hilarious. Matthew puts a smile on my face each and every day whether it is from a look, a silly dance, or some quirky little thing that he says or does. He is a fantastic father. He loves and adores Blake and they have so much fun together. He is a great example to me every day of my life.

Janae is probably one of the most unique people I have ever met. It wasn't until we were married that I knew she was after me. She is so great to me and everyone that comes into our house. Janae is the most genuine person I have ever met. Her patience is off the charts, I have no idea how she can manage 20 first graders. There are times when she makes jokes and then laughs at them.

Blake has been such a blessing to our life. He has such a fun personality. He LOVES to be outside playing in mud puddles and helping Dad. He loves to sing songs, read books, and eat goldfish crackers! He is your typical 1 1/2 year old boy!!

We again would like to thank you for considering our family for your child. We know that there will be a lot of thought and prayer that goes into your decision, but we are confident that you will be able to find the solution that is best for you and your baby. We want you to know that we respect and admire you. If you choose to place with us, you will always be spoken of with high respect and admiration. We are open to communicating with you before and after the birth of your baby and hope to have the privilege of meeting you.

With Love,
Janae, Matt, and Blake
