Hello! We are Debbie and Francisco (Fran) and we are excited at the opportunity to share our lives and ourselves with you through this letter. We cannot begin to imagine how difficult taking this path might be for you, and we can only hope that our letter might provide some encouragement and hope as you travel this way. Should you decide to stay a while and get to know more about us, we hope that it will result in a life-long answer for all of us.

About Us Our story began in 1998 when we met at work. We were friends for about a year before we started dating. After our first kiss, we knew immediately we could no longer be just friends and we have been together ever since. We will celebrate or 10th wedding anniversary this year(2012). Our journey to become parents has been a difficult one. We tried for several years to have a biological child with no success, but this journey has taught us a lot about ourselves, how strong we are as a couple and individuals, and the true love we have for each other. It's also this journey that led us to where we are today as hopeful adoptive parents and we are so grateful to have this amazing opportunity!

One of things that drew us together is our love for animals and especially dogs. We share our home in Northern Virginia, just outside Washington, DC with our two dogs, which we refer to as our four-legged kids. We have a fabulous home on a cul-de-sac with a large yard that backs up to a lake, the dogs love to swim in it and we look forward to taking our child on our paddle boat to enjoy the warmer weather. This is a great neighborhood for our child to learn how to ride their bike, play with other neighborhood kids, and play on the numerous playgrounds in the area. We love living so close to Washington, DC and all it has to offer with great museums and history to share with our child. Learning and education is of utmost importance to us and one of the reasons we moved to this neighborhood is for the great schools, our child will receive a top-notch education.

Together we enjoy hanging out with family and friends, watching movies, hiking with our dogs and taking relaxing vacations. We both love the water and our favorite vacations spots usually involve a lake where we can swim and boat with the dogs or near an ocean where we can listen to the waves crash on the shore while we read on the beach with a good book and play in the sand. We also enjoy visiting amusement parks. Fran especially enjoys roller coasters and the thrill rides while Debbie enjoys some roller coasters but tends to prefer some of the tamer rides. Good food is also a passion of ours and we enjoy experiencing new restaurants and cuisines. There are very few foods we don't like and we are willing to try almost anything.

Family is most important to us. We have a wonderful family that has supported us throughout our journey to become parents and they are all excited to welcome another family member. Fran was born in Guatemala but was raised close to where we live now in Northern Virginia. Fran has one sister and one step-sister. They both live in the area with their families. Fran's parents also live in the area and almost every Sunday we all get together for family dinner at their house. It's a wonderful tradition and we can't wait to bring our child to their first family dinner. Debbie was born and raised in Rhode Island and moved to Washington, DC to attend college. She loved the area and decided to stay after graduating. Debbie's sister lives close by with her family and we see them almost ever weekend. Debbie and her sister are incredibly close and not a day goes by that they don't talk to each other. Debbie's parents still live in Rhode Island but we see them several times a year and talk to them several times a week. We are so lucky to have such a wonderful and supportive family!

Fran makes me smile! He is unconditionally loving, nurturing, and attentive. I always feel happier when I'm around him. He is super supportive and encouraging and always has my back, he also gives really great hugs. Fran has a special gift of always making those around him feel comfortable and at ease. He has a passion for learning and always puts 110 percent into everything he does. Fran is big kid at heart. I love watching Fran play with our niece and nephews and you can easily tell they love being with him (sometimes I think he enjoys playing with their toys more than they do! ). Fran will be an amazing dad who will help our child develop good self-esteem, respect for others, and how to have fun.

Tidbit About Debbie About Debbie (by Fran)

Debbie has a great big heart and a gentle soul, undoubtedly it was these qualities that attracted me to her. Have you ever seen a person and just watched them and said, “this person would make a great mom”, well, that's Debbie. We have one niece and three nephew's and her interaction with them just demonstrates the kind of nurturing she would have for our own child. Debbie is a giver, she just gives and gives and sometimes forgets about herself, but how can that be a bad thing when the object of her actions would be our baby. I know that Debbie would be the best mom and while I know we would be the luckiest people on earth to be given a baby, I have a feeling the baby would be just as lucky to have Debbie as a mom.
