Sean & Marcelyn are hopeful adoptive parents from Virginia waiting to adopt a baby.

A little background Hello! We are Sean and Marcelyn, and we hope that after you learn our story you will give us the chance to get to know you and help us become parents. We have been hoping to have a child for a long time, and are looking forward to doing so through adoption. We live in northern Virginia, near Washington, D.C., with our two dogs, Penny and Jake. Our neighborhood is great – it’s very diverse, with wonderful parks and schools within walking distance, the nation’s capital and amazing museums close by, and several of our relatives within an hour’s drive, and grandparents just a few hours away!

We met at college over 13 years ago and have been best friends ever since. We’ve been married nearly five years now, and are looking forward to spending the rest of our lives together as best friends, spouses, and parents. For medical reasons, we’re having trouble becoming parents on our own, so we’d appreciate your help. We do not have a preference as to our child’s race or sex. We just want him or her to be healthy and we will work everyday to show our child, with our words and actions, how loved he or she is.

Who we are Marcelyn loves music and being outdoors, and is looking forward to singing along with our child to Disney cartoons and taking him or her to piano lessons, and also playing outside with our child at the local soccer field or playground. Sean has a great imagination and will have a lot of fun coming up with all kinds of games to play, and will also love teaching our child about football (the Denver Broncos are Sean’s favorite!) We also like to go running and exercise regularly – Marcelyn has completed two half-marathons and Sean played rugby in school – and we look forward to cheering our child on at sporting events once he or she is old enough. Our two dogs are very loving, but are getting old and don’t move as fast as they used to, which means a toddler can keep up with them during short walks around the neighborhood.

What kind of parents we'll be We were both raised to believe that reading and education are very important, a belief that has helped us greatly in our own school and professional lives. We want our child to have the same experience, and so we both look forward to reading bedtime stories to our child and helping them with their homework. Sean’s already excited at the thought of helping with science projects!

We were also raised to be very curious about the world we live in, and to take advantage of the chance to travel as often as possible. Between the two of us, we have lived in China, Taiwan, England, Italy, France, and across the U.S., and travelled to many more places around the world. Along the way we’ve made some wonderful friends, mastered foreign languages, and learned amazing things about the world and ourselves, and we hope to provide the same opportunities to our child.
