We're not very good about keeping up with our journal. If you'd like to keep know what's going on with us, please send us an email. Today we had a lot of fun visiting the Cherry Blossom's and going to our favorite restaurant, the Melting Pot.

While we will continue to pursue private adoption, we've also begun to expand our search to include an agency. We are required to submit references, including one from a family member. Jessica's mom, Iris, suggested we share her reference on Parent Profiles, as she and Jessica's dad, Larry, are looking foward to becoming grandparents.

To Whom It May Concern:

As Jessica’s mother and Chris’s mother-in-law, I am in an excellent position to address whether they, individually and as a couple, would make good parents.

Jessica is a loving daughter to her father and me, and we have watched with much pride and pleasure as she matured into an independent, intelligent, happy and well-mannered woman. Early on, she demonstrated a special affinity to children and selected jobs where she could work with children. For example, during college, she chose summer employment in day care centers. After college, she chose to work in child welfare where she could make a difference in children’s lives. She is always there for her family and friends and is someone who can be counted on to help others in need. She is extremely kind, caring, loving and patient. She is also extremely responsible and has been since childhood and is financially savvy. While extremely grounded and responsible, Jessica also enjoys living life to its fullest and has many hobbies and areas of interest. We could not be more proud of our youngest daughter.

When Jessica met Chris, she bloomed further. In my dealings with Chris, I have found him to be kind, gentle, caring and also very intelligent. Like Jessica, he is practical and financially responsible but also has a fun side. He loves exercising including biking, hiking and has taught himself many home owner skills such as carpentry. He works hard for his family and is well liked and respected at his job by both his superiors and colleagues. He has treated my husband and me as parents, always being there for us as would be a son. He is, for all purposes, the son we never had.

As a couple, Jessica and Chris appear to be two pieces of a puzzle that fit perfectly together. They are extremely loving and respectful of each other and to have excellent communications skills. In short, I have no doubt of their commitment to each other and to the sanctity of their marriage. Both Chris and Jessica long to adopt a child. I, my husband and all their relatives and friends wholly support their efforts, and we all look forward to a new addition to our family. I must admit that my husband and I want a grandchild to dote over as much as Chris and Jessica want a child. Chris and Jessica will make wonderful parents, and I recommend them to your agency without reservation.

Again, thank you for the opportunity to address Jessica and Chris’s fitness as prospective parents and for your organization’s efforts to make this possible. We will be forever grateful if you could make their dreams and ours a reality.

We hope everyone had a good holiday. We enjoyed a great Holiday Party for Chris's work and his friend, Jeff came out last weekend from California to visit. This spring, he plans to bring the girls, which we are looking forward to.

We've had a busy few weeks. We spent 10 days at Disneyland and also visited with Chris's friends and family. His friends, Jeff and Claire, and their daughters Grace and Murielle had to evacuate their home due to the fires in California. While away from their home, they spent several days with us at Disneyland, and we had a blast. Thankfully, their home remained intact.

Today, we were busy preparing for Halloween. We had a great time decorating our home and handing out candy to the neighborhood children. This year, our neighbor brought us to a huge block party several streets over where every house on the block was decorated and all families hand out candy. The organization of this block party was very impressive. We can't wait for next Halloween.

I hope whoever is reading our journal is doing well. Thank you for the recent contacts. We have not had a match yet, but we appreciate the interest. Sometimes our email is inoperative, so if you don't hear from us, please try again as we are very good about replying back.

Last weekend was very special for us. We went away for our 5th wedding anniversary. While our actual anniversary was a few weeks later, the weekend of the 18th was more convenient for us to get away. We went to Deep Creek Lake in Western Maryland. Of course, we pick the coldest weekend of the summer to go. However, after a quick trip to Walmart for some long sleeve winter shirts, we were good to go. We stayed at a lovely Inn that had 10 guest rooms. Our adventures included a ski lift ride at Wisp Ski Resort (we plan to return in the winter for snow tubing), go carting, canoeing and a campfire at the Inn on Saturday. Sunday, before heading home, we went for a hike to see the lovely local water falls and also did some outlet shopping.
