This is been life right now in Massachusetts- rain, rain, rain! Despite the downpours, we have managed to plant a few new trees in our backyard and mulch around the flowers that are trying their best to bloom. Last weekend we ran a 10K road race with Kurt's parents cheering us on, and this weekend we had a blast laughing at children running wet and wild at Colleen's school fair! We, too are hoping for a sunny spring- we are doing our best to keep a positive outlook as we wait for our family to grow.
As Mother's Day draws near, we wish all mothers and expectant moms the best! Our thoughts and prayers are with you. We'd like to thank our own mothers for all their ongoing love, care and support as we continue our wait for an adoption. You ladies are #1!

Today begins my spring break from school. I did not make any official plans for vacation, which upsets me a bit (could be visiting family members or friends that are out of state) but I know we should be saving money for a trip to hopefully pick up a baby somewhere (soon!). It's tough to think this was the same feeling I had last year, and we have still had no luck finding our most anticipated family member...but we must continue to believe each day brings us closer to that happening. We are ready!
I will spend my time visiting/catching up with friends and their children, finding any home or organization projects to complete (for us or for others!), planning for more fun in my classroom, and reading up on adoptive parenting skills and making things for our future child. I have just picked up sewing as a new skill, and I made a stuffed whale toy already. It's a start!

Here we are at the end of another year. We thank everyone who has helped us get through 2007, and we don't know what we'd do without the continued support we are getting from family and friends cheering for us as we wait for a baby. Birth mothers or fathers out there, if you are thinking about putting your baby up for adoption and you'd like to talk to us, please call our toll free phone number 1-877-742-2749. We'd be happy to talk to you! Best wishes for a happy, healthy year ahead everyone!
Colleen and Kurt

This has been one roller coaster of a month! We were candidates for two separate adoptions within 3 weeks of each other. One father of twins gave up his sons to another couple (that already had children) before he met us; and another ADORABLE AND WONDERFUL couple that we grew to love decided to keep their baby at the last minute. Of course we hope every child finds the home he or she was meant to have, but this has been difficult regardless. We made it through our 6 year anniversary and Thanksgiving being grateful for each other- and we hope the baby MEANT for us will come soon!
School has begun and my class is hilarious. We are off to a great start! I am grateful for the distraction and time with children who keep me positive about our decision to adopt. They give me strength to stay hopeful and persevere through each day of waiting. Teaching has to be the next best thing to parenting...I just cannot wait until we have our own child to teach and learn from every day of every year ahead!

We just had an amazing weekend with Colleen's family at her cousin's wedding in New York. There is nothing like a fantastic, happy occasion to remind you of how great your family is! It was so much fun to see our nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. We danced under a tent, overlooking a harbor, surrounded by smiling faces, and we were reminded of how lucky we are!

(Colleen's summer is almost over. She heads back to school in a matter of 2 weeks.)
I cannot believe another year is coming. I try so hard not to keep "mile markers" for us, but I cannot help but watch time slip by without a child in our lives. As much as I adore the new students I will teach, I cannot help but wish for one we could love as our own. Another graduation, then Memorial Day and Fourth of July went by, and here comes Labor Day, then the official start of another school year. How I wish I was staying home with a baby as a new mom! It truly is a job I pray for everyday.
In one sense I will be happy for the distraction of hard work, it keeps me busy and clouds my thoughts so I won't think about the wait so much. No one knows you are "expecting" when you are not pregnant, and of course there is no nine month guarantee for a baby. Many of our friends and family members know we are waiting to adopt, but we have also kept it private, for surprise reasons, from many people, too. I will shout our good news from the hilltops when we have any! But for now, I will continue to smile and think the positive thought that soon the child meant for us will come into our lives and bring a joy we have not known yet.

When we first decided to begin the process of adoption, one of Colleen's dearest friends Maureen sent a letter to our adoption agency telling them all about us. She sent us a copy, and it was such a wonderful gift, we thought we should share some of it with you.
"I was reading (her son's) John's baby book the other day and in it is a paragraph about his special friend Colleen, which I'm sure is not the first time Colleen has made it into someone's baby book. Colleen is so good with people and children. She has an excitement and enthusiasm and true love for kids, which is why I have to believe in my heart that she will be a mom. Kurt has such a relaxed nature, a fun spirit and sense of humor which is what will make him a great father.
The two of them together are unstoppable. I truly believe that the heartache they have been through these past years will be the gain of a child who without them both would have had heartache, but instead now will have hope, love, fun and years of happiness.
I pray for all the mothers out there that have enough love for their child to be able to do the most selfless act by giving their child up for adoption in hopes of a better life for their child. I think every mother would feel comfort in knowing that there are people like Colleen and Kurt, who will be the kind of parents that we all hope and strive to be. As much as a child will be a blessing to them, they will be such a blessing to that child. I love them both!"
We just met with our adoption agent today and she told us how many people have had luck through ParentProfiles.com, so we are even more excited to activate our profile. Please feel free to call or email us anytime!

We cannot wait for our lives to be filled with the realities of parenthood!
We have had years of waiting already, and feel prepared and incredibly excited to finally become a family. Our house is clean and freshly painted, our yards are colorful and safe, we are happy with our jobs, and our friends and families are just as eager as we are to welcome a baby into our lives.
We feel so lucky to be surrounded by such wonderful supporters. Everyone is cheering for us, we just need life to begin! This page on the internet is our latest form of outreach, and we hope it leads us to the baby we are meant to have. We are eager to hear from you. Take care.
Thank you, Colleen and Kurt
