Hey!

We are working on getting all of our adoption paperwork transferred to Alaska. We have met with one of our new workers, and have our home study update scheduled for next week. We took everyone to the doctor this week, to get our medical files updated, and Darwin and I went in to have our fingerprints done again. Hopefully we can have it all moved and updated by the end of the month. Hooray!

We are doing everything we can to find you little one! You are very precious and we all love you already. We can't wait to hug you and plant kisses on your little cheeks! Please help your birth mom to know she has found your family! We can't wait to meet you!

All our love,
Darwin and Melissa

We have had so many blessings in our lives this past six weeks. We were able to purchase a home here in Alaska and TWO of Melissa's brothers and their wives have been able to adopt sons!! One in August, and one TODAY! We are so excited for them, and can't wait to meet our new nephews, Calvin and Teagan. The miracle of adoption is just that...a miracle. We are so grateful that adoption has blessed our family already. We are waiting patiently for the day when our next child finds us.

With Love,
Darwin and Melissa

We are now in Alaska! We had an amazing vacation on our way up here. We were able to spend 5 days in So. California. We had tons of fun at Disneyland, California Adventures, Sea World, and the San Diego Zoo. Next, we made a stop in Idaho to visit our parents and siblings. We got to stay in Idaho for almost 3 weeks. We just got into Alaska last night, and are so excited to be here. Our good friends met us at the airport, and it was so great to see them again. Today, we went and looked at six homes, and tomorrow are scheduled to view seven others. We are excited to be able to purchase a home here.

We hope you are well!

Well, we are packed up and ready to move! We are excited to be able to visit family during our trip up to Alaska. It has been a long time since we have been home. We are still searching for our next child, and hope we can meet them soon.

The Coast Guard has sent us transfer orders, and we will be moving back to Alaska this summer. We will dearly miss Hawaii, but are very excited to be moving back to Alaska's capital. We are planning on purchasing a home there, and Melissa has just been accepted to the local university. She plans to attend as a part-time student, and hopes to finish her associates degree while we are stationed there.

All the girls had their piano recital tonight. London played "I Am A Child of God", Brooklin played "Part of Your World" from The Little Mermaid, and I played "God Help The Outcasts" from The Hunchback of Notre Dame. While I was playing I was so nervous, it felt like I was my own little earthquake! Brooklin said she felt the same! We all did good, and it was fun to preform for an audience. This is a picture of us with our piano teacher.

To the girl who contacted us by phone from Washington:

Sorry we were cut off...my cell phone is really testy. If you would like to call me back, try using our home phone, or you can call Sally. It was great to talk with you!

Our kids are out of school for two weeks for spring break, so we decided to go camping. We had lots of fun. We sang songs around the campfire, made s'mores, played card games, hiked, and enjoyed the beautiful outdoors.

I was cruising on the internet, dreaming of our new child when I came across this awesome bassinet. I absolutely love it. The activity gym comes off of the top, and baby can play with it on the floor as well. It is called the Cariboo Classic Bassinet. We hope to be able to fill it soon!

Much love,
Darwin and Melissa

We have been having problems with the contact email forms. We have had two contacts that typed their emails in incorrectly, and we were not able to contact them back. Please make sure you double check your email...we really do want to talk with you.

I am having a difficult time with patience. We feel we are ready for our child to be here, but God must know that we need more time and experiences before we are ready... otherwise our next child would be in our arms. ;) We pray for those experiences, so when you find us, we will be completely prepared to love and take care of the baby you are carrying. I read in a book somewhere, that although it is hard to wait, God won't give our child to someone else, so I guess I need to have more faith in Him. Listen to your heart, and do what you think is best, and He will pick you up when you need it.

Each year, we have a traditional Christmas breakfast of strawberry waffles with whipped cream and strawberry syrup. This is our children getting ready to dig in!

Merry Chiristmas! We had a great Christmas, and got some fun stuff. We went to the christmas tree farm this year with some friends, and were able to pick out our own tree, and a guy came and cut it down for us. While we were there, our friends took some pictures for us. This is the front of our Christmas cards for this year.

This past month has been good and also sad. A friend of ours adopted a son, after waiting for two years, and we are so excited for them. For the sad, a genuine birth mother contact, (and possible placement) had a miscarriage. We have kept them in our prayers, and send our sympathies to them.

Last night, we carved pumpkins for Halloween. It is hard to keep jack o'lanterns here in Hawaii. It isn't cool, and the pumpkins mold in the heat in only a few short days. We were lucky enough to find a store that still had good pumpkins only two days before Halloween, so we carved them last night for family night. We try and reserve each Monday evening for a family activity....sometimes we do it on a different night, but we are fairly consistent with Mondays.

Well, that is it for this month.

~hugs~

We have had a good few weeks. We have had a couple of good contacts, and are hoping to find our special birth mother soon. We are keeping you in our thoughts and prayers.

Darwin and I went hiking last week up to the cross on the hill in our town. It was strenuous for me...not so much for him...because the trail was straight up. I had to take a lot of rest breaks. As we were hiking, we pondered on the story of Christ carrying his cross up Calvary. What a much harder task he had then any of us do. He wasn't allowed any time to rest, and he was carrying his own cross. We were only carrying our backpacks and some water. During our lives, we will never fully experience the trials Christ went through. We can only know that he understands our trials and if we ask for His help, he will give it to us freely. He loves each of us more than we can comprehend. I know.

We hope you are able to find strength and peace during this time in your life, and if it gets too hard, ask for His help.

Happy Labor Day!

The kids and I went hiking today near Hana, HI (on Maui). Darwin had to work over on Oahu, so we decided to go hiking and geocaching. We had a lot of fun. We packed a picnic lunch, and set out on our adventure. The drive to the trail head took about an hour to get to, and the hike was less than a mile round trip, but it was still fun. We found a really cool bamboo forest, and some interesting flowers. When we got to the top of the trail, we ate our lunch at the picnic table, and then headed back down. All in all, we had a lot of fun.

We have a crown flower tree in our backyard. It is a special tree, because it is where monarch butterflies lay there eggs. We have lots of caterpillars living in our backyard, and we have watched many of them form their chrysalis and change into beautiful butterflies. Monarch butterflies are very beautiful, but they must go through a lot of hard work and change, before they can make it to their final form. One of the pictures in our album page is of our daughter, Brooklin, holding one of the butterflies we hatched.

We are grateful for the small miracles that happen right in our own backyard. We wish you strength to make it through your own journey of pregnancy, birth, and choosing a family for your child.
