The bedding for our nursery arrived recently. I searched for hours to find the perfect set and when it arrived it was definitely exactly what I wanted - it's green and brown with stripes, perfect for either a boy or a girl! We ordered some furniture too, but it will stay in storage at the store until we are ready for it. The extra bedroom in our house is all ready for a little one, and I can't wait to be up all night in that room hearing a baby's wonderful little noises and, yes, all of the cries too!

This is an excerpt from a recommendation letter written to our adoption agency about us by our friend Dan.

"Having a family with children is extremely important to both Adam and Jen. They both had the advantage of being in very close, supportive families, and the joy they gained from this has fueled their desire to establish a similar environment for an adoptive child. Listening to Adam and Jen speak of their family, particularly their baby nieces and nephews, it is clear that family is the highest priority in their lives and that this will continue as their family grows to include children.

Not only is extended family such an integral part of their lives, Adam and Jen have a marriage based on deep love, mutual respect and understanding, and unconditional support. The challenge of fertility treatment can be a strain on many relationships, but for Adam and Jen it was the opposite. They truly were able to rely on one another, and each one gave much needed comfort and support to the other. Adam and Jen love to be with each other, both of them provide the counsel and care that is so vital in a successful marriage. I know how looking forward they are to sharing this love with a child."

This is an excerpt from a recommendation letter written to our adoption agency about us by our friend MJ.

"Adam and Jen are an open minded, intelligent and loving couple. Additionally, it had always been their intention to adopt one or more children at some point in their married lives and that one or more of these adopted children would be of a culture different than their own. It is their open-minded, loving, and nurturing nature that will make them good parents for any child, regardless of that child's culture of origin. Adam and Jen are people who are guided by an incredible sense of social justice, as are many of their close friends. The child would be raised in a household that would embrace the child's original cultural identity and would embrace that child completely."

We just announced to all of our friends and family that we are hoping to adopt our first child soon. After struggling through infertility and growing together as a couple, we are so happy to move forward in our path toward building our family. Ever since we started dating in 1996 as college freshmen, we both knew that we wanted to have a family together. We had always intended to adopt later in life, so we knew that building our family through adoption was meant to be.
