What a birthday party! It poured rain that day and we had to move the event inside, but the kids didn't seem to notice. As they came in we gave them their capes and masks. Most of them put them on right away and began running around the room. They were so cute! Thomas has so many nice friends. We enjoyed celebrating with them, and they gave him some really nice gifts. A lot were for the pool, and we have made the most of them.
Next week we'll be testing them in salt water when we head to the beach on vacation. We're all so excited about building sand castles (and destroying them), looking for shells, splashing in the waves, making friends and more.
It's so hot already this summer. Hope you have somewhere cool to escape the heat. Thanks for reading... :-)Molly

Thomas has turned 4! His birthday floods me with memories of so many wonderful times, both special and ordinary. I love to look through photos and albums and read our special books as I remember. Today we read Jamie Lee Curtis' Tell Me Again About the Night I Was Born. It's a sweet adoption story about a little girl's arrival to her family, and reading it allows me to tell Thomas his story. This year Thomas celebrated his big day at the state baseball tournament with Daddy and the team. They almost got him a championship, but came up one game short. We're busy now preparing for his birthday party, Super Hero Training Camp. Should be lots of fun. I'm also in the midst of painting the nursery-to-be. It was hard to find just the right yellow, but now that I have it, I'm eager to see it on the walls. Of course we're also eager to make that room personal and put a precious cub in it. Thomas talks often about being a big brother. As much as I had hoped he'd get that promotion before he turned 4, I think he'll be an even better big brother for the added maturity he will have.
Well, it's hot here and the pool is open! I love having that amenity in our neighborhood! Happy Memorial Day... :-)Molly

Wow, what a fun and busy spring we have had! Grandma was here a couple of weeks ago and took us geocaching - high tech treasure hunting with a gps. We had lots of fun searching for a treasure we eventually found in a hollow log. Daddy's baseball team is doing very well (23-4 heading into tournament play), and Thomas has been playing baseball, too. He loves to go to practice with Daddy - the big kids are really good to him. At the games he is quick to retrieve the foul balls. The 3 of us saw Horton Hears a Who one Saturday. We all liked it! Then last Saturday Thomas and I (and friends) went to ReadFest. One of the stories was Horton, and Big Al (the Alabama mascot) was there to help tell the story. Very cool! One of my highlights of the month was helping out with a special event at Thomas' school. I'm so grateful to be a stay at home mom and be able to do things like that!
As we approach Thomas' birthday each May I always think a lot about his birth parents. I remain in awe of their choosing adoption for him. During the time we spent with them it was very clear how much they loved him (still do) and wanted to raise him. To put his future interests ahead of their personal desire to be with him must have been so hard. That unselfishness can only be love. I have tons of respect for them.
Hope spring has sprung where you are - it's beautiful here in Chattanooga! Thanks for reading.... :-)Molly

Thomas has a new cape, a red one as he requested. Since I finished it for him yesterday he has hardly taken it off. In the afternoon we played superheroes: Thomas was Superman, Daddy was Spiderman (don't call him Spidey!), and Mommy was Batman. We rescued maidens and little boys from the 'bad guys'. I love to see Thomas' imagination at work! It was a fun surprise that the theme at gymnastics today was superheroes! Of course he had worn his cape, so he was ready. :-)Molly
Ahhh, spring break! There's nothing like it. Holiday breaks for teachers are super, and we love spending extra time together. On our agenda for the next 10 days or so are a few movies (we're hoping to catch Horton Hears a Who and the new IMAX in town) a couple of days with the grandparents, some baseball games on campus, and some walks with the dogs in the nice weather. Thomas is especially excited that Daddy will get to take him to gymnastics and see him do his stuff. With Easter the second weekend, we've also got our church egg hunt and picnic. I got some sample paint up in the nursery, but it's not the right yellow. Will have to try another. It's a good thing I don't mind painting. Thomas was telling me just yesterday how he would share his Lightning McQueen sleeping bag with the baby brother (or sister, I keep reminding him!). Well, the baby might have to wait just a bit for that!
Happy Easter to you, and thanks for reading.

Welcome to our journal! We're excited to have our profile active. We are busy right now with the beginning of baseball season and getting ready for Easter. Hopefully most of the cold weather is behind us so we can enjoy some outdoor fun. On the baby front, there are paint samples in the nursery. It will be a nice warm yellow... but which one?! I hope to paint in the next couple of weeks.
Thanks for reading!
