I went to my friend's baby shower on Saturday. To my delight, we didn't have to play any silly games -- we had fun just talking and catching up with friends. The trouble was, it was so hot that day! And my friend does not have air conditioning. None of us in Seattle do (well most of us) -- because it doesn't get hot very often. Maybe like two or three days a year it gets over 90-degrees. So Saturday, it was nearly a 100-degrees and we all sat around drinking a TON of water and fanning ourselves with napkins. Still, it was nice. I learned some things about what you need for a baby - for example a food processor to make baby food and mix formula. Sounds obvious -- but often you don't think of that until you need it. But I have a list of the essential things we'll need - car seat, diaper bag, etc. And cute outfits. That is a must of course!

Last week we painted the room that will one day be our nursery. I also got the carpets cleaned -- but I think ultimately will put in new carpeting. But the room is cleared out -- now we only need to put in the baby furniture! It's becoming so real -- we have a real excitement building. Next week, I'm going to my friend's baby shower -- she is due in October. She asked me if I felt weird about going to a baby shower -- given that we are adopting. I thought that was a seriously strange question. I told her that Gid and I are "pregnant" -- maybe not in the physical sense -- but in the emotional sense. We've bought baby books, we have been watching Super Nanny to get tips, etc. This is the time we have to prepare -- and we are really trying our best.

Well, our profile should be active and we are so excited. We have been trying so hard to have a baby and for so long. Once we made this decision to adopt, we went into it whole heatedly and put all our energy into making it happen.
The home study wasn't difficult - it was getting all the required paperwork together that took the time.
We can't wait to welcome a baby into our hearts and share all our love with him or her. For us, it will be a dream come true.
Thanks for reading our profile and considering us.
Gideon & Michele.
