Matthew & Deborahprofile id #22322

We have just gotten back from a wonderful vacation to visit family and the beach in the East. It was so fun seeing the cousins all play together and enjoy each other's company.
Spring has finally come!!!! Our daffodils are blooming and the hostas are popping up out of the ground--our apricot trees are in full boom too! Spring is my favorite time of year. Seeing new things come to life after the dead of winter is pure enjoyment. We were able to go up and see our new little niece/cousin. Little Lisa is SO lovely, what a lucky family to have a new baby--I can't wait until it is our turn!

What a great weekend--we were able to watch the General Conference for our church at home. Swimming lessons and playdates filled up Saturday. Sunday we had a fun potluck and talked to family.
Today Thomas and I made bread together. It was so much fun helping him dump in the flour, sugar and other ingredients. He even made his own little loaf! This evening we went to an orchestra concert for Paul--they sounded wonderful. What a great community this is for furthering talents, whatever they may be.

Tonight was a lot of fun. For dinner I made French fries and ketchup (but it was really sugar cookies and strawberry nectar) and for dessert it was strawberry shortcake (but it was really meatloaf frosted with mashed potatoes and decorated with grape tomatoes)! We had a nice drink as well (which was really Jell-o in a cup with a straw in it. I love April fools day! After scriptures we played games. Earlier today, Thomas and I went to a singing group with some of his friends, and after school, since it was so nice out, was playtime in the backyard with the swing, bikes and other fun toys. I think Makenzie found an acorn and planted it in a flower pot. I hope that it grows for her!!!

What a fun weekend we have had--but we have missed Matt. He has been in Dallas for a conference and we are picking him up in a few minutes--he is SO excited to see us. Everyone has missed him and can't wait to go and pick him up and be able to be with daddy again!
On Saturday, Paul did a great job in a trumpet competition and the kids all had fun at swimming lessons. After getting everything ready for Sunday we had a fun pizza party/game night complete with ice cream sundaes!
Church was great today and now we are enjoying a peaceful afternoon spending time together. This evening we will listen to a LDS General Conference talk for scriptures, have family council to schedule out our week and have our Sunday treat! Hmmmmm, maybe we could have Sunday sundae's--that sounds good!

Deborah again!
I have been thinking today of how supportive our family has been through this adoption process. Last summer we were close to adopting a beautiful little girl. My heart still misses her. Since she would be joining our family just before my sister Steph's wedding, my sister Lena made her a beautiful attendant dress (on very short notice) so that she would match all of the girl cousins. My mom made sure that she had a treat bag ready for her. Everyone was excited to be able to meet her and welcome her to the family. Even though this particular adoption didn't go through, the emotional support and welcome were huge--for the beautiful little girl and her birthmother.
Matt's family has the same natural love and acceptance as well. Matt's youngest brother is adopted, and he in turn has adopted a daughter as well. We are so glad that we have these great relationships and people in our lives, who without the miracle of adoption we would never know.

Since I am the big journal gal in our family, this entry is from me--Deborah.
Putting together this page has been an exciting time. I am feeling very strongly that this baby that is missing from our family will be joining us soon. The diaper bag is all ready--we even have a blanket that Great-Grandma Lena made just for this new little arrival. The coming home outfit that everyone wore home from the hospital is all packed as well, complete with booties. It was so much fun getting everything ready and packed.
I hope that those who are looking at our profile can see what a great family we have. I enjoy myself with the things that I am interested in, but ensuring that I am a good mother and wife is the top priority--it is a responsibility I take very seriously. Another thing I hope that birth mothers will realize is that I am a far better and more effective parent now, then when I started 11 years ago. Any additional children who come into our family will only benefit from my having this experience to draw upon.
I hope to get this up tomorrow--I am so excited, I wonder if I will sleep tonight?
