So this past weekend was a lot of fun! We celebrated my best friend Karen's bridal shower on Saturday. It's funny...you spend all this time preparing for an event and when the actual event comes, it goes so fast! I've been telling her to remember that piece of advice for her wedding day. The day just gets away so quick that sometimes you forget to enjoy the moment you are in. Her wedding is in 2 weeks. Scott and I are looking forward to the happy occasion. We will also be celebrating his parent's 50th wedding anniversary this upcoming Saturday. This month is quite full with fun occasions, which is so nice. I really enjoy this time of year.
Scott and I wonder what your days are like and hope you are well.
So today is Friday--YAY it's the weekend! I am just sitting here thinking how busy we are going to be in the next few weeks. This Sunday is our wedding anniversary. I finally figured out what I am getting Scott. Warning to Scott if you are reading this posting: STOP NOW because it's a spoiler :P Turn back and don't read on :) The third year traditional gift is leather. I thought what could I possibly buy him that is leather that he would get good use of. And then I knew: a leather bound day planner with a leather wrapped personalized pen. He uses a day planner for work everyday so I thought that would be nice. Anyway, I think we are going to go out for a nice dinner to celebrate.
I also have an apt. tomorrow to get my maid of honor dress altered. I've got to finalize plans for her bridal shower which is next weekend. I found really nice bridal shower favors online. She is an editor and an avid bookworm so I bought bookmarks w/a leaf attached to each for the favors. I thought it would go very nicely with her fall themed wedding and the fact that she is so into books!
More later....hope all is well :)

Hi again! A quick note about our weekend--
Me, Scott and friends of ours and their kids went to a local fair this past weekend. We had a fun time! It was really humid though--I don't know what I was thinking wearing jeans. Here's a pic of me on one of the ride's with Max (our friends' 3 year old). This is the kind of ride I can handle :) It actually wasn't too crowded--I think because we were supposed to get some awful weather, which didn't happen until much later. We had a great time. Look for more pics to come in our album.
I also went and picked out my shoes for my friend's upcoming wedding. I am her maid of honor. It's such a fun occasion. I have been planning her bridal shower, which is on 9/27. Her and I have been friends literally since we've been 3 years old. I am so excited for her!
We have a busy Sept and Oct. Sept 21st is our 3 year anniversary. The 'traditional' gift is leather. I am not quite sure what I am going to get for Scott yet. The following week is my girlfriend's shower. Oct. 4th we're having a big celebration for Scott's parent's 50th wedding anniversary and the following weekend is our friend's wedding! Busy, busy :)
We hope you are well--we think of you often. Remember to always follow your heart.
Warm regards,
Kerry
Wow. September 1. Even though it's not officially fall, it is the start of the fall season to me. This summer we were so busy that the season felt like it passed very quickly. I am excited about fall though because there are many things to look forward to....for one, it's fair season! We really enjoy walking around and checking out the vendor booths as well as the games and rides. I am not one for rides-- well, maybe the Scrambler--definitely the kiddie ones are my speed :) but it's fun to watch the people on the scary ones and comment on how much I would scream if I were on them. LOL. We've already been to one this season and we are going next week to another with friends and their children.
Hopefully you are enjoying this long holiday weekend. Saturday was kind of rainy here so we ended up staying close to home and taking it easy. Yesterday, we went to my mom and step-dad's camper in Rhode Island. It's really relaxing and a nice place to go. (They purchased the camper a couple of years ago because my step-dad dives in Rhode Island quite frequently in the summer and they thought it would be a nice place to stay instead of having to travel back and forth from RI to CT each weekend day). Scott and I went and busted my step-grandma out of the nursing home and took her with us to RI. She was thrilled to be getting out! It's about 1 1/2 hour ride from our house. We arrived around noon. We had lunch; took a walk around the grounds, which is quite large; visited with other campers with their kids. It's a very community atmosphere. Dinner came around fast and then we lit the campfire and toasted marshmellows. I couldn't help but think that maybe next year we will have a child to bring with us. There are so many kids and activities for them there. They have a little store on the grounds with arcades and ice cream. They have a pond to do some fishing; a miniature golf area; and a little water park. It was such a beautiful day to be outside yesterday.
Hope you are well!

It's been a bit since we started the first journal entry. Scott and I had been very busy this summer...mostly with yard work! We bought our house last summer and there was much to do (inside and out)! We were hosting a family picnic/birthday party at the end of July (pic attached) so we spent the better part of the summer planting, weeding, mulching and making the yard look nice.
I also started my first vegetable garden this year. I planted many things: watermelon, cantaloupe, zucchini, squash, artichoke, cucumber, celery, tomato and lettuce. Everything started from a seed except the tomato, lettuce and celery. Unfortunately, the watermelon and cantaloupe died off pretty quick. It was very fun to watch the rest of the veggies sprout and grow. We managed to get some squash and zucchini, but unfortunately, my plants recently died too. Our neighbor seems to think that all of the vegetables I have together in my raised vegetable garden have different soil needs. The tomato plants have been wonderful and the funny thing is Scott and I don't eat them! My mom bought them for her and my aunt so they have been enjoying great tomatoes! I have been watching my artichokes closely. Supposedly, they are very difficult to grow and probably won't really make it here in the northeast--but there still hanging on :)
Now that the picnic is done, we've taken a little break from working outside and have found other fun things to do like our walks, get together with friends for some picnics, and play some Wii :P We went to see a dog/frisbee competition show at our local park with friends and their children recently. It's just a lot of fun to be outside without the work LOL.
Scott and I are looking forward to our anniversary next month! The traditional third year anniversary gift is leather. I'm not quite sure what I am going to buy for him yet. We also have my best friend's wedding approaching in early October. I am very excited to be her maid of honor!
Scott and I think of you often and hope you are doing well.
