We picked up our Christmas tree last weekend. We walked a mile and half to the store and planned to carry it back, "like in the olden days," Walter said. The people who sold it to us insisted we take it home in a shopping cart. I imagined how a little kid would laugh at the outing. Now the tree's up and decorated. Each ornament has a story, some are from my grandparents. I think about the wonder in a child's eyes, seeing the tree lit up. And I look forward to us decorating Christmas trees with our child, Walter making Christmas cookies (he's the baker). It's always a special time for family, and it is and will continue to be for ours.
It'a hard to believe that it is nearly Thanksgiving. As we go about holiday preparations, we think of ways we would share special holiday traditions with our child. And as we wait for the time when we can add a child to our lives, this is a time to pause and remind ourselves of how much we have to be thankful for.

We're looking forward beginning the process of building a family together through adoption.
