Today is the day we have finally gotten all of our paperwork over to the fine folks at parentprofiles.com and Kelly and I have requested activation (for our profile to go online)! We are both so excited, nervous, and hopeful. I couldn't have imagined feeling all three feelings at once. Our prayers go out to those mothers looking for a home for their little one(s).

I know that my daughter and son-in-law would make wonderful parents. They very often talk about what they would do when they have children. Kelly and Kathey both have a well-rounded life. They are religious. Kathey and Kelly teach a group of 9 year olds in church. They both have a college education. They have a good relationship with all their nieces and nephews. They are physically active with outdoor sports and their animals. We love them very much and hope that they will soon have a baby in their home. We are ready to be grandparents again. We love our grandchildren.

The first journal entry is always a mix of "what do I write" and "please don't spill your entire life story". I guess the most important thing that has happened in our lives has been the natural progression of making the decision to adopt. We as a couple have always wanted to have a family. After getting married in 2003 we decided to get me (Kathey) through Veterinary school first and then fill our home with little ones. That decision was not to be ours however as 2 years into graduate school both Kelly and I felt impressed to begin a family. After trying for two more years and going through one heartache after another, we finally went to see a specialist. The news was not hopeless but nearly so. Kelly and I searched our souls for several months, spoke with many adoptive caseworkers, parents, and adoptees, and read several articles on the event. Then we hit our knees. We both knew we could not live our lives without being parents. The trials of getting to this point have been difficult and heart-wrenching but have been so rewarding.
