I feel badly that I have not updated our journal lately. Things have been pretty hectic work wise and we've had a lot of family stuff going on. Two weeks ago Gregg and I went to Williamsburg to attend the christening for Suzannah and Henry. We are very honored that Molly and Andrew asked us to be Henry's God parents. (Andrew's sister and her husband are Suzannah's). The babies were perfect in church. Each of them tried to play in the holy water which raised a few chuckles. The high point of our visit was taking the twins from about 11:00 am to 7:30 pm so Molly and Andrew could get some things done. We had a blast taking them to Colonial Williamsburg, another nephew's baseball game and to visit an old friend of mine. Gregg and I agree that the stroller, new bottles and car seats are more difficult to handle than the twins are!

Hopefully, I'll have some pictures soon...

OK...so we've just found out WHAT a roller coaster ride this can be for EVERYONE. If you are a birth mother considering us as adoptive parents for your baby, we hope you'll call us. You might be surprised at how easy we can make the first call.
PLEASE understand that we've just been put through the ringer by a birth mother expecting twins. We made the mistake of falling for her hard luck story without checking out the details. We have been disappointed but KNOW that we are destined to have a baby to love.
If we have a conversation and you think we are the parents for your baby, we hope you'll understand that we will need to verify your background and see doctor records regarding the baby. It REALLY stinks that the world is this way but it is and we all have to deal with it.

We've had a lot going on over the past couple of months. My cousin, David was married over Thanksgiving weekend in Washington DC. Gregg and I spent a few days before the wedding touring the city. It was pretty cool just walking around. Both of us had seen a lot of the sights before but found some new things like the spy museum that were pretty cool.

Mom came for a visit last weekend. we went out to the marsh and found our tree as well as one for her. This year it took us a couple of hours to come up with the "perfect" tree.

Gregg and I have done this every year that we've known each other. Sometimes a group of friends joins us and sometimes we're by our selves. Regardless of who is with us, we always have a great time tromping through the marsh.

It wil be an EXTEMELY memorable time when we are able to share this tradition with our kids.

We've been pretty busy since my last journal entry. Usually, September is like summer in the Outer Banks but this year it definitely feels like fall.

On September 11, my neighbor and I took two girls that Gregg and I are very close to, to see Taylor Swift and Rascal Flatts. I've been planning it since June.

About three years ago Gregg and I were asked if we could take Cheyenne and Shelby in until a family member could be contacted to be their guardian. We were lucky enough to have them stay with us for two weeks. They are now living with their aunt about 30 minutes from us and doing great.

During the past three years I've tried to plan something big for us to do in addition to other things around here. The last two years we went to Busch Gardens & Water Country and stayed with my Mom in Williamsburg. Now that they're becoming teen agers I have to get more creative. These are two very special girls who we plan to always have as a part of our lives.

Gregg was able to join me on the next visit to see Suzannah and Henry.

We stopped in Williamsburg for the night before going to my cousin Stewart's wedding in Richmond on September 20th.

They are definitely beginning to show more personality and growing like weeds.

I was able to get to Williamsburg earlier this week and visit our new neice and nephew. We've been calling Suzannah "Snoozannah" since she is very content to sleep at all hours. Henry on the other hand, likes to be held during the night.

I'm happy to say that I had "duty" on Monday and Tuesday nights and did quite well on my own despite the 2:1 odds. poopy diapers....juggling bottles....burping every ounce...PIECE OF CAKE!

Gregg and I are so excited. Just two days before our five year anniversary, we're ready to go "live" on parent profiles! We have a lot of faith in this website and look forward to the experiences it will bring us.
