Today we return to Parent Profiles. We had been matched with a wonderful expectant mother via this site, but in the end that adoption could not go through, and so, we sadly begin our search again.

John Henry turned two years old last month. It was on his birthday last year that we "officially" started our search for our new family members, maybe that is you and your sweet baby?

The last day before our family reunion trip was over we decided to take a 20 min. drive over to Ecola State Park. Link and his dad had been there earlier in the day and Lincoln really wanted me to see how beautiful it was. I can truly say that there are few places on earth more enchanting. As you look out over the bluffs that the upper part of the park is situated on you see Mother Nature in all her untamed glory. Amazing and a little bit frighting. Even though there are wires to keep you away from the edge of the cliffs, I kept a close on eye on John Henry!

Every year we meet up with cousins and aunts and uncles from all over the country to enjoy one another's company and celebrate the Fourth of July (for an entire week!)
We LUV the Oregon Coast, complete with it's cold, wet, rainy days in July!

Hip Hip Hurray!

After 8 years of one or both of us being students, we are finally through our formal education. I graduated with my Masters on Sunday.

Lincoln, John Henry, my parents and Link's parents were all there to support me.

I am giddy when ever I think about the fact that there are no more papers to write, no more presentations to prepare, no more tests to take!!!

The only question. . . now what??? Oh wait, I know, time to play with my boy and be a MOMMY without distraction! I think I will also throw some knitting and reading in there as well!

Happy Memorial Day weekend. We are just chillin' at home this weekend. Link has to work, so it pretty much seems like a regular weekend to us.

I hope that you have some fun plans.

John Henry and I went out for his 19 month photo shoot. I do this ever month and then at the end of the year i have a book of the best photos from every month printed. I plan on doing this for all of my kids. It's fun Mommy-Child bonding time for us.
I post the photos to our blog so our friends and family that live far away can still watch John Henry grow up. (If you want to check them out email me and I will send you the blog address.)
Sometimes I remember to take one or two "self" portraits with John Henry. They always turn out silly.

Lincoln and I celebrated our 8th wedding anniversary recently. This is an example of how important traditions are to Lincoln. This photo is of a few of the eight (one for each year of marriage) Leonidas roses he gave me. They are the same roses that were in my wedding bouquet. Isn't he sweet?

When we get a free day together as a family, we like to find something fun to do together. Lincoln and I find it wonderfully fun to watch John Henry explore and find delight in new things around him.

What better place to do that than at a Children's Museum?

John Henry had a ball running from one fun thing to the next and showing us his favorites. Here he is asking Lincoln to help him put the "blueberries" back on the tree so that he can push the button and make them all fall off again.

He also really liked the big rig truck that he could climb inside of (yep, a real one retrofitted to be a safe place for kids to explore) and the room dedicated to toys powered by water.

WHAT FUN!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

It's been crazy around our house for the last little while. I just finished finals for my second to last quarter in business school HURRAY!

My little brother came to visit and Lincoln's Mom came to visit. I was very grateful for the support, the time to study uninterrupted, and a couple of extra naps!

I don't have any pictures, but here is a cute one of John Henry just being himself. I LOVE it!

Grandma was in town for a few days and sent us out on a (much needed) date without the boy.
We went to dinner and then ice skating. It was wonderful (except for the reminder from the ice skates that we aren't quite as young as we used to be!)
We had so much fun! You know, toddler's should get to have all the fun. The Mom and Dad need to have non-toddler type fun every once in a while!

We took a trip on one of Washington's large ferries. John Henry has been on a ferry before, but not since he was an infant. He LOVED it. He looked out the window nearly all of the time, the rest of the time he ran around (falling periodically- no sea legs as-of-yet!) "introducing" himself to everyone on the ferry. The other passengers didn't know they were going to get free entertainment on the ride! He was adorable. It is so much fun to see his reactions to new experiences. He is so full of wonder. It is one of my favorite parts about being a mom.
