From the look on her face in this picture, you'd think that Naomi bit into a sour apple! Despite the look on her face here, she had a blast when we went apple picking. There was a little petting zoo with baby goats (always a crowd pleaser!). As you can see we rode the tractor into the apple orchards where we picked several bags of apples. We've made two pies already! (Maybe I should do an extra 15 minutes on my walk today to compensate for the 2 pieces of pie and ice cream eaten last night...and most likely the additional piece that will be eaten tonight!)

What a beautiful September day. Spent it with my mom and step-dad at the botanical garden. The flowers seemed even more spectacular than usual - maybe because they are slowly switching over from summer to fall plants/flowers. I kept thinking of all the work and talent that went into making such awesome displays! Gardening is something Dave and I hope to take time to do more of as each year goes on. We are headed to an art festival this evening to hear some live music.

This summer has been unusually mild temperature-wise, which has been great for outdoor activities of all kinds (except swimming on particularly cool days). It seems this is the first year our grass has stayed green without much watering! Our daughter Naomi is 2 and a half years old and is blossoming before our eyes. Lately she has started talking about brothers and sisters a lot. (On her own - we have not been prompting her.) Last week she had a play date with a little girl who has a baby brother - she loved helping to feed him his bottle. It's neat to see she already understands that siblings have a special bond. We know we are meant to adopt another child and say a prayer each night that our family will be blessed in that way!

Dave and I believe with all our hearts that what is meant to be will be. We hope that we will be connected with you because you saw something in us that rang true for you, or that you related to in some way. It takes a very special person to do what you are doing, and we hope you feel that.
