Fall has been very beautiful this year. Micah and I have spent a lot of time outdoors. Now we're gearing up for the holidays. This weekend Tracy's grandfather will be visiting from Florida, so we'll be spending time with her Dad's side of the family. There will be quite a few young children there, and it always amazes us how fast they grow. We were hoping we'd have a little one to show off this year, but guess it wasn't meant to be. Maybe this spring ,;-)

DON'T FORGET TO VOTE TODAY!!! This photo was taken last Sunday. It's hunting season here in Maine, so you've got to wear your blaze orange when you're in the woods! Even Esther has a vest :0)

HAPPY HALLOWEEN! We carved pumpkins, toasted seeds, and handed out candy to two whole trick-or-treaters! When you living in the country like us, most people drive their children into bigger neighborhoods in town. We can't wait to have our own child to make costumes for, bring to parties and to trick-or-treat at grammy and grampys!

We have been on parent profiles for three months now. We have spoken with a couple courageous birth mothers. Mostly they have been in the beginning of their pregnancies and are still working on their decision on whether to go with adoption or not. We have narrowly avoided our first adoption scam. There were many emotions associated with going through that! We are sad we didn't end up with a child, angry to have been deceived, and are ready to forgive and forget to move on. We were not naive and knew it could happen. But we are getting over it quickly and praying for another birth mother to contact us. It has been great to get to know new people and to hear how everyone has different challenges in their lives that they go through. It always works out somehow, doesn't it? We know if will work out for both us and a birth mother someday...hopefully soon.

Went hiking today with friends. This is a picture of Tracy and a friend sitting inside of a big tree! We were hiking at Camden Hills State Park. The foliage was gorgeous!

Tracy is on vacation this week. She had dinner with her old friends from college and had so much fun talking about the good old days! Lol! This is a picture of her having dinner with her friend's daughter. She was so adorable!

Micah had his 36th birthday this week! Yikes! He was very excited to receive a big Stanley thermos and an LL Bean gift certificate. But most of all, he loved his peanut butter ice-cream cake!!

This is been a very long weekend! Tracy had Friday off because of a State government shut-down day, and Monday is Columbus Day. Four day weekends are great! Micah took Esther on her first bird hunting trip with the boys, and Tracy has had the house all to herself! Micah's birthday is tomorrow so she did a little shopping and baked a chocolate cake. It's going to have little orange and white ghost sprinkles on it...too cute!

Micah and I are planning on using cloth diapers. Sounds crazy, doesn't it! But you should see them now! They have all these cute prints, they're adjustable so one-size-fits-all, waterproof, have snap or velcro closures...they're unbelievable! Not only do they reduce waste in the environment (it takes 200-500 years for a diaper to decompose!), but studies have shown that less diaper rash occurs when you use cloth diapers.

The weather is changing here in Maine. We had a beautiful week of warm days and cool nights. You can smell Fall in the air.

This weekend was all about the cooking and baking. We finished off a French Crunch Peach Pie (made with our very own peaches), had some bacon wrapped steak (can't eat that too often!), made home-made molasses donuts (another thing you can't eat too often!), and at this moment there is a chicken roasting in the oven. It smells so good in here!

We had a good Labor Day weekend. We did a bit of fall cleaning and moved some stuff from the house to the garage. We also went to the Windsor Fair, Maine's second largest agricultural fair. Micah entered some of his garden vegetables at the fair and won several blue ribbons! It fun to see how everyone's veggies compare and to see all the different varieties. We ate tons of fair food and are glad to be eating normal again this week! Esther also had a training class. She's almost ready for bird hunting season! Monday evening we had dinner with friends and family. They have a five year old girl and young twin boys and definitely have their hands full! It was so much fun playing with them!

This is a photo of Tracy taken at the head of the Liberty/Raccoon Beach Trail on Campobello Island. We hiked 4.5 miles.

We just got back from vacation. We went camping Downeast Maine and had a great time! We did lots of hiking and saw some beautiful coastal scenes. We also visited Campobello, home of Franklin Roosevelt's summer home. Campobello is an island in Canada and it has a really cool beach called Raccoon Beach. All the rocks on the beach were perfectly round and smooth and the waves made really neat sounds. It made our dog Esther very nervous! The weather was perfect.

Poor little Esther (our dog) has a rash on her belly. Taking her to the vet this afternoon.

We are having a heat wave here in Maine! It's been in the 90's for days! This weekend we stayed cool by going to the ocean one day and swimming at a nearby lake the next. Also brought our puppy Esther to a training clinic. She drank a ton of water! The beans are really coming in from the garden, so Micah has been busy freezing them. He freezes lots of vegetables so we have plenty that last through the long Maine winters. So this week Micah is installing ceramic tile, and Tracy is working at an environmental clean-up in central Maine. Next week we're going camping Downeast (what Mainer's refer to as eastern coastal Maine) and can't wait!

We both have three days off this weekend! Woohoo!!Some of the things we'll be doing include a barbecue with friends, cleaning the house, swimming, pulling garlic and hanging it to dry, mowing the lawn, fishing, and celebrating my brother's birthday (we're having lobster....yummmm).
Monday, August 3, 2009
We had a really nice weekend. We went to see the band Blues Traveler at the LL Bean Free Concert Series. It was a lot of fun to listen to good music and run into people we knew. We also ate some yummy pulled pork at Buck's Naked Barbecue (and no, no one was naked!).
Tuesday, July 28, 2009
Today Micah is at work installing a ceramic floor and Tracy is at work cleaning up the environment. It's also Micah's father's birthday, so we're going to camp after work for hot dogs, hamburgers, and cake. The weather outside is humid and 90 degrees so a swim will be awesome! Our puppy Esther loves to swim too and loves to retrieve. It will be a lot of fun!

Today we finished our profile and are almost ready to activate it. We are nervous and excited at the same time and hope that our page makes us sound interesting. We wonder what it will be like to hear from a birth mother. We'll share one thing in common..we'll all be nervous!
