This past weekend was a great weekend. As a family we ran a local race together held at a farm. Marshall and I ran the 10k and then Shelby ran the 1/2 mile kids run. Shelby was so excited because she got a ribbon and then got to go into the pumpkin patch and pick whatever pumpkin she wanted. It was cute to watch her go in and she stared at all the pumpkins for about a minute. She saw this tiny little pumpkin and said "this is the one I want".
It was a great Fall day and being on the farm with the chickens, horses and pigs made it feel even more like October. We all had a great time.

Yeah it's fall time! Our family loves the fall here in Colorado. We are excited to be going on a little trip up to Estes Park with some family. Lots of fun hiking and biking are in store. The leaves should be colorful and beautiful in the mountains now. Shelby is very excited that Halloween is coming and her mind changes daily on what she wants to dress up as. It is between a butterfly and alice in wonderland today. We always do lots of baking this time of year and can't wait for the pumpkin bread and cookies.

Marshall had a couple of days off this week and it has been really nice. We have gotten a couple of home projects done and that is always a good thing. I have enjoyed the help around the house and Shelby has loved having her daddy pick her up from school. She has insisted that he take and pick her up on their tandem bike. The fun part is that it is all up hill the whole way home so Marshall is getting a good workout this week! :]

On Saturdays we spend the morning on a trail not too far from our home. Molly runs and Marshall and Shelby bike along. We bought a bike extension for Shelby so her bike attaches to Marshall, turning it into a tandem bike. The great part is that if she gets too tired she can just rest and doesn't have to pedal. This Saturday as we were going along, a beautiful doe stepped out of the bushes right in front of our path. She was so close we could almost touch her. she didn't seem to be too concerned about us and she sure was fun to watch. These small experiences always remind me of why I love where we live and why I love to be outside enjoying it!

Shelby started first grade yesterday. I can't believe summer is over and it's back to school already. She really likes her teacher and when I asked what her favorite subject was, she said "Lunch". She has been so excited about going to school all day and being able to eat lunch at school now. We bought her a barbie lunch box and she loves packing all her goodies into it. Even though I miss her during the day I know she loves being with the other kids and has so much fun and that makes it better.
