Ethan and I always knew we wanted a large family, we just didn't realize how difficult it would be for us. After two and a half years of struggling with infertility we were blessed with our first miracle, our son, Michael. We then went through three miscarriages before getting pregnant with our son, David.
We set up David's cradle in his room and strapped in his car seat next to his big brother's, never imagining he wouldn't use them. David was only with us for about four hours before he passed away.
After David died we were told he had a genetic kidney disease which is fatal within a short time after birth and that one in four of our biological children could have this disease.
After David passed away we started looking into adoption for the first time. We were approved for adoption for over two years before we were selected by Kelton's birth mother. Kelton brings such joy into our family. Every time we look at him we remember what a miracle he is in our lives. We still keep in touch with Kelton's birth mother through e-mails and pictures. We love her so much and are so grateful for her courage and strength. She will always be spoken and thought of as a special angel for our family.
Our daughter, Angela, was born about a year and a half after Kelton. We found out when I was about 24 weeks along that she had the same kidney disease David had and wouldn't live very long after birth. She only lived for about an hour before she went back to be with her Heavenly Father and big brother, David, again.
Our lives have been so blessed through adoption and we hope to have the opportunity to adopt another sweet, miracle baby into our family soon. Please don't hesitate to contact us if you have any questions or would like to know more about our family.
