Spring has finally sprung around here! It's so nice to be able to go outside without a jacket and see all the flowers in bloom.

On a more solemn note, our thoughts and prayers are with all those that were affected by the Boston Marathon tragedy. Such a terrible and senseless act.

Can't believe this was our backyard today! We had very little snow all winter and now that it's spring, we get snow. This is very unusual for us which made it kind of fun but I'm ready to put away the winter coats in exchange for sandals and t-shirts.

Snow in March! We've been extremely luck this winter with the weather and had no measurable snow fall...until now! Tonight we are expected to get at least 6 inches and possibly up to a foot!

I'm actually looking forward to the snow, it will be nice to be able to play outside with the dogs, they love snow! It will be even better to come inside and curl up on the couch with a hot chocolate and a good book.

We can't believe that February is almost over. It's been a busy month with birthday's and a visit to my parents in New England.

Last weekend we went to see my parents in Rhode Island. It was a nice relaxing weekend. Between the snow and my mom still recovering from surgery she had last month, we just ate a lot, watched TV, and did some small errands for my parents. It really was a nice get away. However, we were glad to get back home to our dogs and no snow!

Had a great birthday! Fran gave me some beautiful flowers (I love flowers) and brought home cupcakes from my favorite cupcake place. My co-workers helped me celebrate by ordering cupcakes for the office. Then my sister treated me to lunch and a day of shopping. My sister has two kids so it's very rare that we get to spend any alone time so being able to have her all to myself for a couple of hours was a treat and we had a great time! Then Fran's parents took us out to dinner which was lovely. I certainly am one lucky girl!

Fran celebrated his birthday a few weeks ago. We typically don't buy each other presents but I felt that he deserved something special this year for being such a great husband. He's mentioned several times that he wants to learn how to play the acoustic guitar, so I did my research and bought him a guitar for his birthday. He was so surprised, it was great to such a big smile on his face when he opened it. Now he just has to sign up for lessons.

Happy Birthday Fran!

We are excited to celebrate my brother-in-law's 40th birthday and New Year's tonight. Cheers to saying goodbye to 2012 and hello to 2013. I have a feeling that 2013 will be a fantastic year filled with happiness and good health!

Happy New Year to all!

Happy Holidays!

Hopefully next year at this time we will be celebrating as a family of 3 (well, 5 if you include the dogs).

I think my favorite thing about this time of the year is receiving holiday cards in the mail. In this day of electronic everything, it is so nice to see that someone took the time out of their day to hand write you a card. I hope this tradition never ends, I know we will always continue to send hand written holiday cards!

Happy Thanksgiving!
Saturday, November 10, 2012
We started a new tradition last year where we take our niece and nephew out for a day alone with us around their birthdays. This year we took my niece to a place to paint her own pottery. It was a fun activity for all 3 of us and we even painted a platter to use for Thanksgiving. Afterwards we had a nice lunch and then went back to our house where we colored and watched cartoons. Hopefully our niece enjoyed the day as much as we did!

We just got back from Jamaica. Despite being there during hurricane Sandy, we had a great time and had two full days of sunshine. Now that we are back home we are once again going to experience hurricane Sandy. How many people can say they have been through the same hurricane twice, yikes! I hope everyone on the east coast stays safe during this storm.

My office is celebrating boss's day with a potluck lunch. I decided to bring in meatloaf cupcakes. The "frosting" is mashed potatoes. They look cute and I have to admit, they are quite yummy. I of course had to save some for Fran and I to eat.

This recipe is definitely a keeper and it will definitely be fun to make for our child someday.

Had a nice Sunday. We met some friends for lunch and then took the dogs for a walk at a nearby park. This park is great, it has playing fields for different sports, a fenced in dog park, and a nice playground.

Now time to relax and get ready for the work week.

Was browing the internet and found that there are a lot of great resources out their for a person who is considering putting up their child for adoption.

If you are reading this, I hope you find the information you need to help you make the right decision for you and your child.

Happy Friday!

It finally feels like Fall! Perfect rainy and cold day to stay in, make chili and watch some football!

It was a great day weather wise and a perfect day to celebrate Fran's sister's birthday. We decided to head to the National Mall for the National Book Festival. The festival had something for all ages and it was nice to be outside walking around with our family. The attached picture shows Fran with our nephew, Nicholas. Our brother-in-law took some more pictures but we're waiting for him to send them to us so we can share.

After the festival, we all had dinner and of course birthday cake!

We will never forget!

Long weekends always go by too fast! We had a great Labor Day weekend visiting with my parents who came to town. We saw a Nationals baseball game, it was my parents first time at that stadium and was the first time my niece and nephew went to a baseball game. It was a blast, Fran had fun teaching our nephew how to crack a peanut shell and my niece loved to clap and cheer for the home team. Of course hot dogs, cracker jack, and cotton candy also added to the experience!

It was super hot and humid over the weekend so we tried to do mostly indoor activities, so we did a little shopping and went bowling. Overall a great weekend of family fun! Can't wait for to see what the next long weekend will bring but for now it's back to work and the daily grind.

Yesterday we spent the evening babysitting for our niece and nephew. We took them to Chuck-E-Cheese. The kids had a great time and they especially enjoyed giving hugs and dancing with Chucky!

However, the best part of the night was putting them to bed. We love reading them stories and singing to them. They are super sweet and and my niece told me that I was her best friend and that she was going to miss me a lot (she makes my heart melt).

Good news is that we will be spending lots of time with them next weekend as my parents are coming to town to visit with all of us, so neither me or my niece have long to wait to see each other again!

We had a great time in Philly with my parents last weekend. It actually felt like we were on a mini vacation! It was a short trip so we didn't get to see many of the sites but having the time with my parents and Fran was what it was all about.

Lots of ups and downs during the past few months of our adoption journey. While frustrating at times, these are all things that are making us stronger and more educated about the process. We look forward to the upcoming months and what lies ahead for us.

On another note, we are heading to Philly this weekend to meet up with my parents. Should be a nice little get away and it's always great to see my parents.

Today we celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary! Can't believe a decade has gone by since we said "I Do". Through all the ups and downs, there is no one else I would rather have beside me on this journey of life. We are a stronger couple today then we were 10 years ago and we can't wait to see what the next 10+ years will bring!

Wow! What a week it has been. Last Friday we lost our power for 4 days due to a storm that came through and then we lost it again last night. Power has now been restored and we can't thank my sister and her family enough for taking us ( and the dogs) in for the 4 days last week. We stayed with Fran's parents last night and want to thank them too. We are so fortunate to have such wonderful family and to have them so close by!

On the plus side we got to spend some quality time with our family and especially enjoyed taking our niece and nephew to a water park, getting big hugs from them in the morning, and getting to read stories to them at night.

Happy Father's day to all the wonderful fathers in our life! We had a nice day celebrating with my father-in-law. I hope that next year we will be able to celebrate Fran with our own child! He will be such a fantastic dad!

Yippee! Our adoption business cards arrived yesterday. Now we have something to hand out to our family and friends when they ask about us. They can also pass these along to their friends and family that might be interested or know someone that is interested in adopting.

Another milestone complete and we have to say a special thank you to our friend who designed and printed these cards for us. We are so luck to have such wonderful people on this journey with us!

Wow, the last couple of weeks have been super busy and fun.

I'll start with our nephew's graduation from pre-school. What a wonderful evening! Our nephew, Myles, was born very pre-maturely at 26 weeks and just barely 2lbs and to see him graduating from pre-school, and heading to kindergarten in the Fall with the rest of the kids his age is just amazing. He's an inspiration to us all.

Over Memorial Day weekend I was able to take a trip up to RI to visit my parents. Unfortunately, Fran wasn't able to come with me but it was nice to have some alone time with my parents and to eat lots of my favorite New England foods!

Last weekend we enjoyed our first BBQ on our deck with friends of ours. We enjoyed delicious steaks and salmon and our friends brought home-made bread, yum! We also had the opportunity to go to our niece's second dance recital. She was so adorable and did a great job!

This weekend we celebrated my sister-in-law's birthday. Cake and ice cream, can't beat that! Today started with a trip to the gym for Zumba class, then it was time to get the laundry done, and run errands. Tonight I look forward to playing with the dogs and relaxing on the couch with Fran to watch the Tony Awards.

We are babysitting for my sisters kids tonight. Kids are both asleep and it so exciting to be writing this entry knowing that we will hopefully soon have our own child to tuck in at night.
